Categories help you organize inventory items for faster searching, better reporting, and cleaner labels.
How to open
From Getting started → Add a category, or
From Inventory management screens where category selection is available.
Fields
Name: Category name (e.g., “Automotive Parts”).
Parent category: Optional hierarchy (choose a parent to create sub-categories).
Category color: Visual identifier used across the UI for quicker recognition.
Actions
Save: Creates the category.
Close (X): Dismiss without saving.
Typical scenario
Create a top-level category (e.g., “Electronics”).
Create sub-categories under it (e.g., “Accessories”, “Spare Parts”).
Use categories when creating items to keep inventory structured.
Best practices
Avoid overly deep nesting; 1–2 levels is usually enough.
Use colors consistently (e.g., same color family for related groups).
